Empowerment Network Fundraising Luncheon
Saturday September 27, 2025

Celebrating 17 years of saving lives, The Empowerment Network, Inc. is hosting a Prostate Cancer Awareness Jazz Luncheon, Saturday, September 27, 2025, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Orlando Gardens Event Center, 2050 Dorsett Village, Maryland Heights, MO 63043.
The emcee for the luncheon will be Rene Knott, morning news anchor on "Today in St. Louis" on KSDK Channel 5. Smooth jazz artist, saxophonist Gerry Huggins, will be the musical guest.

Our Theme: “2.5 Daddy - Stay Alive in 25”
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to relief efforts in the aftermath of the tragic and devastating tornado that tore through parts of St. Louis on May 16, 2025.

May/June 2025: Saving Lives, Restoring Hope

Newsletter highlights:
​The Empowerment Network (TEN) expressed condolences for the May 16th tornado victims and stands in solidarity with affected families.
Founder Mellve Shahid, Sr. shared his journey with prostate cancer recurrence, celebrating the end of radiation treatments and being declared cancer-free after ringing the Bell of Hope on April 28th.
Shahid was also inducted into the Sumner High School Hall of Fame and announced as a candidate for an honorary Ph.D. in 2026.
At the May 10th Support Group meeting, Dr. Gregory P. Murphy discussed advancements in urology care. June marks National Men’s Health Awareness Month, urging men to prioritize regular health screenings.
